Welcome to HG Edible Landscapes
Edible Landscaping specializes in the art of incorporating food-producing plants and trees into landscape designs, ranging from simple to complex, working and educating individuals, communities, home owner associations, schools and businesses to easily transform underutilized spaces into places of food production and community growth whilst remineralizing the earth’s soil.
Our services range from creating large and small community-scale edible landscapes to single family yards and patios, assisting people with garden design and construction. The Goal of this is to cultivate year round gardeners. By educating what to plant when and providing healthy locally grown plant starts, the food system becomes more local and secure.
We seek to be leaders in urban agriculture, and to execute local food production networks in city and neighborhoods. We recognize the barriers to gardening and healthy eating habits; our goal is to put forth our knowledge and/or resources to empower people.
Establishing gardens is only the first step; we educate and support gardeners, through the promotion of our Garden Coaching Program. We work one-on-one with individuals, and/or whole communities to revitalize garden space and gardeners’ excitement about growing food.
“Community Grows” is a program that puts group of neighbors that decide to build an edible landscape together. It can be as small as 3 neighbors, it can be an entire block or shared community project within a homeowner association or a group of people working on a single plot as in spaces outside of churches, schools and businesses.
HG Edible Landscapes has the skills and tools to see the process go from discussion to fruits and vegetables. In addition to being a licensed and bonded contractor, we are also trained in group facilitation and formation. We are enthusiastic to assist our community through visioning to the edible landscape design, construction, education, (to the goal) harvest.
Fund a Garden Program
We seek businesses, foundations and individuals who want to help sustain the community, and transform the food system in our urban community. The garden will be planted in your name and you get the satisfaction of giving back to the community. We are currently seeking our 501c3 status for our Fund a Garden program and should be done by February 2010.
Edible Schoolyards-Coming Soon
We will soon begin to offer special pricing and assistance to schools so they can affordably and successfully create edible schoolyards for students of all ages.
